A Portion of the RoboSOLID 2 Screen

We made this solid model of a piston by drawing a simple profile in RoboCAD, and using RoboSOLID to turn (sweep) it through 360 degrees. This completed 95% of it. We then used some simple cylinders to add the pin bearings and oilways using the solid operations unite and subtract. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish. Since it is a solid model, and not a surface model or 3-D drawing, we could easily cut out the quadrant to expose the inner structure, as shown.
Along the top of the screen are six of the eight main drop-down menu entries that you use to control RoboSOLID. Under this is the view palette, containing 14 icons. These icons control the way you see the solid model on screen. The five icons with white backgrounds are the options currently selected.

	Show in perspective view		Show in normal view
	Show as a wire-frame		Show hidden lines as phantom (dashed) lines
	Remove hidden lines		Show as a shaded object
	Emphasize the main edges		Don't emphasize the main edges
	Show axis of rotation		Don't show axis of rotation
	Outline each facet		Blend the facets (don't outline)
	Redraw the screen with the selected styles		Hide this palette
